Our Madina Library started as our Pilot Project in 1999, when management found the need to establish an informal system to improve the reading and writing skills of children who attended club meetings, as most of them could not communicate in English. The Library was therefore introduced, with one bookshelf of 55 books, in the home of the founder’s parents at Madina, a suburb of Accra, the capital of Ghana

In 2001, the library was relocated to its new premises, constructed from two roofed and refurbished ship’s containers, situated on a rented plot of land, a few hundred meters from its original premises. The Library operated daily from Monday to Friday with a daily average attendance of 15.

In 2006, the Container Library had to be relocated to another rented plot of land (Kotwi  Krom), within the same vicinity as the rented land was put up for sale.

Yet again in 2013, the Library had to be relocated in circumstances similar to the previous ones. However, in this instance, our founding Patrons, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson (the parents of our founder) generously donated a portion of the land behind their residence, for a permanent structure to be built to house the Library. It was completed in 2017. The  Library is now back to where it all begun!
